PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Championship Point Racing Returns This Saturday

(Marysville, CA 5/2/23)…Dirt track racing resumes this Saturday, May 6, with the return of the winged 360 Sprint Cars, Hobby Stocks, and Crate Sprints to Marysville Raceway. All three divisions will be vying for valuable championship points.

Corning’s Brian McGahan Jr. continues to sit atop the winged 360 sprint car point standings. In four previous starts this season, McGahan Jr. has yet to finish a main event outside of the top five. He also has one win, and a fast time award. Chasing him is 19-year-old Dawson Hammes of Marysville. Hammes has similar stats to McGahan Jr. He has earned a main event win, finished in the top five all four previous races. These two drivers will continue to go at it head-to-head this season. The battle for third through fifth is tight. Carson Hammes sits third and chasing him are Kao Crane and Wyatt Brown. Only 12-points separate those three drivers.

The Hobby Stocks continue to thrive at Marysville Raceway. On average, 24 cars have attended the previous four races. With two wins, Oroville’s Zach Lindgren holds a 12-point advantage over Howard Law of Marysville. Law, the 2022 track champion, has one victory on his resume this season. Yuba City’s Kyle Cheney sits third in the points and has a main event win this season. Joe Gillock has two top five finishes this season and sits in fourth spot. Young and upcoming Sebastian Davis holds down the fifth spot.

After three events, the Crate Sprints have a logjam in the top five of points. From point leader Matthew Kaiser to fifth place Carl Droivold, they are only separated by a mere 12-points. Kaiser holds a slim five-point lead over Misty Castleberry. Both drivers have won a 20-lap feature. The most recent winner of the division is Jason Ballentine, who currently sits 10th because of missing a previous championship race. Jeff Macedo and Kelly Hicks are tied for third.
