Championship Auto Racing Continues This Saturday Night

Marysville, CA (May 14, 2015) – Marysville Raceway will host point race #5 this Saturday night, May 16th. A loaded five division night will once again be highlighted by the 360 winged sprint cars. So far in 2015, the winged sprint car division has averaged above 20 entries per night. However, with that said, one driver has dominated the action. Watsonville’s Justin Sanders has won two of the first four sprint car point races this year and leads the championship point standings heading into this Saturday night. Adding to his impressive win total, Sanders won the opening non-point Sherm and Loree Toller Memorial back in February to give him three wins this year.

The pit gate will open at 3 P.M. while the front grandstand gate will open at 5 P.M. Qualifying for the winged sprint cars will begin at 6 P.M. with racing to follow. General grandstand admission to this event is $12.00 for adults, $9.00 for juniors and seniors, military or disabled. Children, ages 6 to 11, are $6.00. Five and under are free. Family pass is $30.00 and includes 2 adult tickets and or 2 junior or 3 children tickets.

Joining Saturday nights racing docket are the street stocks, mini stocks, sport mods and hobby stocks. Yuba City’s Jimmy Ford driving Keith Sawyer’s #25s is the current point leader of the mini stocks. Ford holds a five-point edge of Marysville’s Shaun Merritt.

The IMCA sport mods get their second start of the season this Saturday night. Howard Law handcuffed the competition and won the 20-lap main event back on April 25.
The street stock division is making their first appearance of 2015. A plethora of local cars are expected from Silver Dollar Speedway because that race track is dark this weekend because of the upcoming Fair.

Hobby stocks will get another chance to race this weekend. A slow start has limited the potential of this entry level division. One driver has stood about the few that has entered. Yuba City’s Brian Cooper has won both feature events held this season.
