Dwarf Car Nationals This Weekend

Dwarf Car Nationals This Weekend

Marysville, CA (September 21, 2016) – The annual Dwarf Car Nationals takes place this Friday night, September 23rd and Saturday night, September 24th. This race is nothing like anything else that Marysville Raceway hosts. Over 100 Dwarf Cars will hit the quarter-mile dirt oval over two nights of racing. The pit area becomes a mini-city with campers, tents and cars lining the entire area. The best Dwarf Car drivers will be in attendance and showcase their collective talents.

On Friday the pit gate will open at 3PM with the front grandstand gate opening at 5 PM. Adult general admission is $13.00 with junior and seniors only $10. On Friday night only, kids 11 and under will be admitted FREE when accompanied by an adult. The times and prices are the same for the Saturday night show except kids will be $6.00.

This event falls under the Western States Dwarf Car Association (WSDCA). The WSDCA has three separate categories led by the Pro, Veteran and Sportsman Divisions. Shawn Jones currently leads the Pro Division point standings. Jones holds a 13-point advantage over Josh King. Nearly 70 different drivers have earned Pro Division points in 2016.

The Veteran Division, driver needs to be 45 years of age or older, is currently being hotly contested. Scott Dahlgren and Buddy Olschowka are tied at 888 points. Kevin Bender, leader of Bender Nation, is just two points behind. Only 18 points separate the top five.

The Sportsman Division features newer drivers to the sport of Dwarf Car racing. Ken Radbaugh holds a nine point edge over Tim Reeder. Kyle Jones sits third followed by teenagers Ben and Josh Wiesz.

The WSDCA does a wonderful job hosting the event from barbeques, t-shirts and raffle prizes offered throughout the weekend festival of racing. The on track racing features heat races, plenty of main events and even a fast dash on Saturday night.
