Forsberg Wins the Toller for Record Third Time

Marysville, CA – (2-26-22) …Auburn’s Andy Forsberg won his third Toller Memorial with a last lap, last turn pass, over Tanner Carrick. Both Forsberg and Carrick were the stars of the show, as they swapped the lead multiple times. Forsberg was exuberant in victory lane and even Carrick was upbeat and positive even though he lost in heart breaking fashion.  Fans who missed the show, can purchase a replay of the event at www.norcalspeed.tv.

Other winners included Mike Hall, who drove a stellar race to win the 20-lap Crate Sprint Car feature.  Hall had a big cheering section and was greeted by adoring fans after the race.  Brent Steck won an electrifying wingless sprint car main event. The wingless race featured four drivers all in contention to win the race.

All three races were fantastic.  Even better was the new LED lighting system installed over the winter. The cars on the track looked fabulous under the new bright lights. Fans were treated to a bright night of entertainment.

Paul Olmstead Plastering offered $100 each to the winged 360 fast time driver, the 7th place finisher in the winged 360 main and the winner of the Crate Sprint feature.  Stephen Ingraham was the fastest qualifier and finished 7th in the main event to win an extra $200.  Hall picked up the other $100 by winning the Crate feature event.

Forsberg collected a $2,000 winner’s check. The Toller family was in attendance. They had asked Forsberg to do the memorial lap in honor of their parents.

We also said goodbye to Shawna Paulson.  Her husband Peter raced his familiar yellow No. 9 this evening. He presented the car on the front stretch, and we did a memorial lap in her honor.

Rick Faeth from the Petaluma Speedway was able to present Forsberg with a championship plaque, jacket, and point fund money for being the 2021 Petaluma Speedway track champion.  Faeth was unable to host a banquet in his region due to Covid restrictions. The presentation took place on the front stretch before the main events.

Dennis Gage presented Mike Monahan with the Dale Wondergem perpetual trophy following the presentation to Forsberg. Monahan was emotional about the award because they had been friends a long time.

Another positive about the night was the 8:30 PM finish.  Fans were enthusiastic as were the race teams.  The pits had a good post-race vibe again.
