The Toller Twilight Set to Kick off 2019 Racing Season

Marysville, CA (February 4, 2019) …. The sights, sounds, and smells of open-wheel sprint car racing is set to return to the Marysville Raceway on February 16th for the first time in 2019. The 11th Annual Sherm and Loree Toller Memorial will feature winged 360 sprint cars, wingless sprints and crate sprint cars.
The Toller’s love for racing was second to none. They were loyal race fans first and foremost, but also worked at the track. Sherm and Loree’s love for dirt track racing trickled down to both of their daughters, Sheree and Kaylee, who continue to support this race and are often seen at multiple races throughout the season.
The winner of the 30-lap winged 360 sprint car main event will receive $2,000. The wingless sprints will run under local track rules and offer a staggering $1,000 to win their main event. The Crate Sprints will pay a normal Saturday night purse.
Currently, the Toller family is gathering extra incentives for the race teams. Veteran race photographer Troy White is donating $100 to the hard luck award driver during the 30-lap winged sprint car main event.
An important change to this year’s Toller Memorial is the earlier start times. Pit gate will open at 1 PM. Drivers meeting will be held 3 PM sharp. Cars on track at 3:30 PM. Hence, the new name of the event is called The Toller Twilight.
Individual pit fees are $40.  The front gate will open at 3 PM for the grandstand fans. General Adult admission is $17.00, junior and seniors $14.00 (over 62, 12-15, military with ID, disabled) kids $6 (6-11) and five and under FREE. Also, FREE parking.
This event was started in 2009 as a tribute to Sherm Toller who was an ambassador for dirt track racing for most of his life. Sherm’s enthusiasm for the sport was contagious and ultimately led him to be the infield announcer for numerous years at Marysville. When his wife Loree passed a few years after Sherm, she was added to the title of this race. Loree played a huge role at Marysville Raceway. She even kept scorekeeping after Sherm had died. They both are sorely missed around the racetrack.
Previous winged 360 sprint car winners of this event include Jeremy Burt (’09 & ’11), Herman Klein 2010, Kyle Hirst 2012, Sean Becker 2013, Jonathan Allard 2014, Justin Sanders 2015, Andy Forsberg 2016, DJ Netto 2017 and Justin Sanders in 2018.
