Tyler Seavey Continues a Marysville Trend

Marysville, CA (June 10, 2017) – Up-and-coming sprint car star Tyler Seavey led all 25-laps in dominant fashion to win his first career winged 360 sprint car main event at Marysville Raceway. Seavey became the sixth different sprint car driver to win their first Marysville Raceway main event in 2017. Tonight, marked Seavey’s second career win in the No. 18 sprint car. Their first win came at Antioch Speedway. From the get go, Seavey was the class of the field. Chasing him for majority of the race was Mike Monahan and Billy Wallace. Yet, those two drivers fell over four seconds behind Seavey at times during the race. Seavey was thrilled with the win and received a loud ovation when he parked the car on the front stretch, got out of it and climbed towards the top wing.

The best maneuver of the night goes to Jeremy Hawes. The current point leader somehow snuck by Wallace and Monahan on the last lap to steal a second-place finish. The hard charger of the night award went to young Lucas Ashe of Cottonwood. Ashe started the main event in 15th position and finished in fifth. It was an eye-opening finish for the talented driver.

For the third time this season Woodland’s Peter Paulson was quick time. His fastest lap was timed at a 12.188. Hawes won the first heat race. Oroville’s Heath Hall won the second heat. A total of 17 drivers entered point race No. 7.

The IMCA Sport Mods entered the 20-lap main event with 14 contenders. After numerous failed attempts to get one lap in the field was lined up in a single file fashion. Once the smoke and dust cleared Jorddon Braaten led the first ten laps. On the eleventh circuit Todd Cooper passed Braaten for the lead. It was quite the rebound for Cooper, who earlier in the race spun around in front of the field to cause one of the numerous yellows. Yet, good for him to rebound and move back up to the front. Cooper is the true definition of a driver with the never give up attitude. Todd’s brother Brian is the same way. Brian also worked his way back up through the field after an early incident. Brian finished second. Braaten drove a solid race and after leading finished third. Over seven seconds behind the top three was Mike Medel. Mike Smith finished fifth and overcame an early misfortune that sent him to the pits. The crew fixed the problem and sent him back out four laps down. But because of their hard work, Smith was able to come back and get a fifth-place finish. Andrew Peckham won the opening eight lap heat race. Shane Devolder captured the popular win in heat two.

Adam Ermolenko continues to be the star of the winged economy sprints. Ermolenko beat Kyle Bakkie by nearly four seconds to win the main event. Cameron Haney Jr. finished third. Earlier in the night, Ermolenko win the heat race by nearly three seconds over Haney Jr.

James Castleberry continued his winning ways in the Super Stock division. The defending champion beat Phillip Shelby by 2.126 seconds. Speaking of Shelby, he barely beat Mike Walko for second. The difference was less than a car length. Walko dominated the only heat race and beat the second place finished by over eight seconds.

The Midget Lites only produced three cars but good for those three that showed up. Scott Kinney won for the second time in a row at Marysville. Emilee Lindgren was second followed by longtime supporter of the series Craig Dillard.

Point race #8 takes place this Saturday, June 17th.
