Raceway Awards Scheduled

 

(Marysville, CA 12/23/21) The celebration of the Marysville Raceway 2021 race season has been scheduled for January 29, 2022 in Chico at the Doubletree by Hilton.  The evening will get underway with a reception at 6 P.M and dinner will follow at 7.

 

Despite challenges Marysville Raceway held 22 events this year and different divisions ran 5 to 14 events during the season.  Winged 360 sprint cars led the lineup with the most events and veteran driver Billy Wallace was crowned champion.  Wallace a multi time track champ was joined by local sport modified driver Todd Cooper gaining the championship by a slim 3 points over Jimmy Ford also an area regular.  Dan Brown Jr. was dominant in his Limited Late Model run scoring the title by an easy 36 point margin.  Grass Valley’s Brett Youngman continued his championship run in Crate sprint cars and youngster Jacob Johnson outran veteran Jerry Bartlett to score his first championship.

 

These champions and plus the top five in each division will receive awards during the annual celebration.  “These competitors put their heart and soul into racing all year and deserve some recognition.” Track manager Dennis Gage said.  “Thank goodness this year we can get together and have the celebration,” Gage continued.  The 2020 banquet was cancelled because of Covid complications.

 

Special awards will also be given to the top rookie drivers in each division plus any annual awards that have been earned.  One being the Dale Wondergem achievement award for the person or organization that has contributed long term to motorsports.  Previous winners include Richard Sinnot, Rich Dozier, Paul Hawes, Korey Lovell, and Ken Micheli.

 

A pictorial review of the season will be shown during the ceremony along with Norcaltv video.  NorcalTV was the new format for 2021 that streamed into homes with a pay per view format.  Awards will include trophies or plaques to the top drivers and owners plus checks dividing up the championship fund from Hoosier Tires.  Hoosier has long been a supporter of the track and the awards.  Champions will get a complimentary jacket from Hoosier.

 

The Doubletree by Hilton Chico is located at 685 Manzinita Court, Chico, CA 95926.  The reception and no host bar open and 6 PM on Jan. 29th with dinner scheduled for 7 P.M.  Awards will follow dinner.   A special room rate is being offered to those who wish to spend the night.  Reservations must be made by January 15, and Marysville Raceway Banquet must be mentioned to secure the rate.  Tickets may be obtained from the Raceway office at 530-350-7275.  Tickets are $25 per person and includes dinner.  Tickets must be reserved by January 21st.
