Haulot Makes it Two in a Row
Haulot Repeats at Marysville Raceway
Marysville, CA 3/15/2025…It was a different week, but a same winner emerged during the 25-lap winged 360 sprint car main event. Jake Haulot secured the lead on lap 18 and went on to lead the final seven circuits with ease. The overall race was solid with three different leaders and some good side-by-side racing. Billy Wallace started on the pole and led the first three laps. On lap four, Shane Hopkins was able to drive by for the lead. Hopkins seemed to be on his way to the win, until a brake issue sidelined his speed, and gave Haulot the chance to pass and get the win. Hopkins was able to bring his car home to a second-place finish. Justin Henry earned a solid top three. Henry is poised to put the famed Richardson No. 8 sprint car in victory lane sooner than later. Wallace hung on to finish fourth. William Fielding rounded out the top five. Haulot also picked up his second fast time in a row with a blistering 11.743 seconds. Placerville driver Cody Meyer earned an extra $50 for the hard charger award.
Defending series champion Koa Crane led the first 11 laps of the Crate Sprint main event. Crane was back in his championship car. On lap 12, a new driver emerged to take the top spot. Jacob Johnson was up on the wheel tonight. Johnson charged around Crane and took the lead. From there, Johnson showed his talents and won the 20-lap race. Near the end, Derek Droivold made a charge but was not able to get close enough. Droivold passed four cars on his way to a second-place finish. Another car on the move was Matthew Kaiser. The Napa resident moved from his seventh starting spot to finish third. Yet, the biggest mover and shaker was Misty Castleberry. The Browns Valley star passed six cars on her way to a fourth-place finish. In doing so, she earned the $50 hard charger bonus. Crane ended up finishing fifth. Caleb Ingle came into this weekend on a two-race win streak. He had mechanical issues and finished 10th.
The night started off with a beautiful tribute to Tami Ford. The wife of Jimmy Ford unexpectedly passed away near the end of February. After the national anthem, many drivers entered the track behind Ford and did an emotional memorial lap in Tami’s honor.
In honor of Tami, the IMCA Sport Mods dedicated the night to her. The 20-lap main event was an entertaining event. Antioch’s Mark Garner led every lap to win the race. Jace Wright shadowed Garner, and he was a serious threat to win but just couldn’t find the speed to make the pass for the lead. Jaso Ryan Jr. was in the mix all night and finished third. Danny Wagner was fun to watch as he battled on the track as hard as anyone. He finished fourth. The hard charger $50 award went to Trevor Clymens, who went from 10th to a fifth-place finish.
