The Excitement Was Off the Charts Saturday at Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Calif., March 29, 2025…Marysville Raceway hosted 54 race cars on Saturday night and these top tier drivers put on a show that will be remembered for a long time. Led by the eight Xtreme Limited Late Models and nine of the Tri-State Pro Stock drivers, these two touring divisions provided top notch racing at the famed action track of the west. A total of 23 hobby stocks and 14 IMCA Sport Mods were also on hand.

Six Tri-State Pro Stocks took the green flag for their 20-lap feature. Disaster struck right away for defending series champion Chris Smith. After starting on the front row, he drifted back to third and by lap four he was stopped and done for the night. Randy Miramontez took control of the lead. He was up front doing a great job. Unfortunately, on lap five he spun around and relinquished the lead. Corey Hall assumed the top spot. Hall was a rocket ship and would go on to lead the final 15 laps with ease. Mike Learn took over the second spot on lap nine. Learn would try to challenge Hall but was never able to find the speed to make the pass. It was a popular win for Hall who won at this home track. Learn was second. Miramontez rebounded for a third-place finish. Another local favorite Todd Cooper was back at his home track. It was nice to see him back behind the wheel. He was the final car to finish the race and came home fourth. These same Tri-State Pro Stocks return October 18th as part of the Gold Fever Taxicab Challenge.

The Xtreme Limited Late Model Series was on point Saturday night. A wide range of nine talented drivers strapped into their beast of machines to attack the well-prepared Marysville Raceway track surface. Rod Oliver jumped out to the early lead. Problems arose on lap four when Oliver was spotted running over a bumper laying on the track that hampered his car. He had to pull off. After that turn of events, it was Ray Trimble’s turn to lead the race. Trimble displayed incredible car control and the driving ability of proven winner. Trimble dominated the remaining 15 laps and won by the race by six seconds over Andrew Odgers. Paul Guglielmoni was solid all night and finished third. Thomas Reynolds held his own to finish fourth. Reynolds was the last car to finish the race. The Xtreme Limited Late Models return on October 18th to finalize their tour.

Once again, the Hobby Stocks dominated the pit area with 23 competitors signed in. The 20-lap main event was filled with some dramatic passing and lots of wrecks, but that never seemed phase Jason Clayton Sr. Up front and in control was Clayton Sr. who led all 20 laps to get the win. Kevin Thomas did an amazing job secure the second spot for most of the race. Thomas continues to show flashes of brilliance and finishes in the second spot. Another hard charger from the rear was Jared Flower. After staring near the rear of the field, Flower was a man on a mission. His expert driving style propelled him to a fantastic third place finish. Kyle Cheney bounced around from third to fifth throughout the race. Cheney ultimately settled for fourth. Paul Stephens was competitive all night and finished fifth.

Mike Ficklin Jr. led the first 10 laps and the final five to secure the win during the IMCA Sport Mod main event. The 20-lap race saw Trevor Clymens lead laps 11 through 14. Clymens is a top-notch driver with the driving ability to get a win sooner than later. The driver on the move was Danny Wagner. Fresh off this win at Ocean Speedway the night before, Wagner charged from tenth to a 2nd place finish. Jimmy Ford was on point tonight. Ford started ninth and drive his way up to a fourth place finish. Rounding out the top was Shawn Smith, who started last in the 12th spot. Smith was able to rebound after spinning to a stop on lap four.
