Andy Forsberg Dominates Sprint Car Race at Marysville Raceway

MARYSVILLE, Calif., May 17, 2025…There is no doubt that Auburn’s Andy Forsberg is a winner and future first ballot Hall of Fame sprint car driver. Saturday night, he showcased his skills by winning the 25-lap main event. Forsberg also won his heat race and was the fastest car in qualifying. “I love coming here and doing well,” said Forsberg. “It’s been a track that I’ve always enjoyed and it’s a testament to my team for having the car so fast all night.” A total of 16 sprint cars participated in the seventh point race of the season.

Jodie Robinson shadowed Forsberg for the final few laps of the race but was never able to get close enough to attempt a pass. Robinson was a nice addition to the field of cars and finished second. Bobby Butler was back to his old form and finished a solid third. He had a spirited battle with Nick Larsen. Speaking of Larsen, he continued his top five streak and finished fourth. Billy Wallace, the early leader, finished fifth.

Defending track champion Kyle Cheney won the 20-lap Hobby Stock main event. Cheney survived a late charge by Devin Koranda. In fact, Koranda at one point passed Cheney down the back stretch but couldn’t keep the lead going through turns three and four. On the last lap, Koranda made a final attempt to get the win but spun around and came to a stop. While the outcome wasn’t what he wanted, give him credit for trying to get the win and risk it all. Jason Clayton Sr. was impressive all night and moved into the second spot once Koranda spun around. Howard Law returned to his home track and made his presence known. Law was competitive all night and finished third. Hard charging Zach Lindgren also made a successful return and finished fourth. Trevor Abella rounded out the top five. Once again, the Hobby Stock division had the most competitors with 23 in attendance.

Jimmy Ford crossed the finish line in second place at the end of the 20-lap IMCA Sport Mod feature. However, the race winner, Tyler Rodgers, failed a post-race inspection and was moved back two spots in the finish. Ford was awarded the win and celebrated in victory lane with his crew and friends. Second spot went to Shaun Merritt. Shaun was a factor all night and earned a solid second place finish. Rodgers was moved back and placed third. Mark Garner continued to have solid finish and came home fourth. Early leader Hunter Merritt drifted back to a fifth-place finish. A total of 11 cars competed tonight.
