FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wallace, Ingle, Cheney, and Garner Crowned Champions

MARYSVILLE, Calif., September 2, 2025…Championship Saturday night at Marysville Raceway ended with two new champion drivers and two drivers who added to their championship resume.

After the final checkered flag waived, Caleb Ingle crossed the finish line in third place during the 20-lap Crate Sprint main event. He secured enough points to become the 2025 track champion. Jacob Johnson finished in second place on the track and in the points. Ingle beat Johnson by just two-points. Misty Castleberry rebounded from a tough race and season filled with bad luck to finish third in the overall points. David Derr Jr. and Derek Droivold rounded out the top five. While Droivold was fifth in points, he was the first driver to cross the finish line. It was a solid win for Droivold who earned his first career win at Marysville. Ingle won four main events this season in route to the track title.

Kyle Cheney continued his excellence at Marysville and is now a two-time track champion. Throughout his year, he picked up four wins along the way. During tonight's main event he finished fourth. The winner was Phil Shelby who was fast all night. Austin Shelby finished in second spot. Brian Cooper finished third. Jason Clayton rounded out the top five. The main event was a marathon and took over 40 mins to complete. A lengthy red slowed the event when Zach Lindgren came to a stop on the top of the track in turn one. A few moments later Willie Horn slammed into Lindgren’s driver’s side door. Both drivers were said to be fine after the wreck, but neither continued racing. Following Cheney in points were Jason Clayton, Toby Merrifield, Ryan Smith and Kevin Thomas. Clayton squeezed by Merrifield by just one point.

Billy Wallace became a five-time track champion Saturday night. With Nick Larsen leading the points, a motor issue after his heat race was his undoing. Larsen and his crew tried to do a motor swap that was unsuccessful. It was a big-time let down that Larsen didn’t make the main and it took any championship excitement out of the feature. Larsen still finished second in points. Carson Hall, Pat Harvey, and Jayden Bunch rounded out the top five. For Bunch, it also wrapped up the rookie of the year honor.

The race itself was good. Bobby Butler, who has been so close to winning this season, led the better part of the 25-lap feature. As Butler tried to figure out the fastest way around some slower traffic, he was passed by Koa Crane. From there, Crane was able to fend off a few restarts and hold Butler at bay until the final lap had come and gone. It was Crane’s first career 360 win at Marysville Raceway. Last year Crane picked up four Crate Sprint wins and the 2024 track title. Trey Walters continues to shine and finished third. Carson Hammes came back to his home track and finished fourth. Josh Young rounded out the top five. Crane was quick right out of the gate. He set fast time with a 12.517 second lap.

Mark Garner won the 2025 IMCA Sport Mod track title the week before. Garner was consistent all season. He finished in the top five nine of the 10 main events raced this year at Marysville. His lone exception was on March 29th where he scored 7th. He picked up his one win on March 15th. Jimmy Ford was second in points and picked up two wins this season. Ford won on May 17th and August 2nd

That wraps up the 2025 championship point season at Marysville Raceway. Next up the Dwarf Car Nationals on September 19 and 20.
