Carson Hall Wins First Career Sprint Car Main Event at Marysville Raceway

MARYSVILLE, Calif., June 28, 2025…Grass Valley’s Carson Hall earned his first career winged 360 sprint car main event when he crossed the finish line first after a hard fought 25-laps of racing. Hall battled hard charging Bobby Butler and Peter Paulson for most of the event.

Carl Droivold of Cedar Ridge won the 20-lap Crate Sprint main event. It was his second win in a row. Droivold held off Jacob Johnson and Derek Droivold. Both Johnson and Derek provided some great on track racing for second spot. Mike Ballantine finished fourth. Caleb Ingle rounded out the top five after falling back to almost last about halfway through the race. Updated points show Johnson now with a two-point advantage over Ingle. David Derr Jr. is still holding down the third spot in points. Jason Ballantine tried to work out the gremlins on a new car, struggling all night to complete laps. He is in fourth just eight-points back of Derr Jr. KC Carpenter won his heat race and earned enough points tonight to find himself in the fifth spot of points.

Shawn Whitney is hard to beat at Marysville Raceway. Whitney took the lead around the halfway point and went on to dominate the 20-lap main event. Behind him it was an all-out war between Brenden Shrum, who finished second, and Jace Badeker in third. As always, Mike Grenert was in contention. The veteran finished fourth. Dylan Shrum rebounded to finish fifth after a near crash sidelined him back in the field. Another good turnout of 17 Dwarf Cars attended the race.

Ron Ruiz won the Vintage Hardtop two car feature. Ruiz was almost able to lap Joe Shenfeld during the 10-lap contest.

The 25-lap sprint car struggled to get going. Front row starting Jayden Bunch spun going into turn one. No lap was completed, so the field would line again for the start. Two more failed attempts left the officials no other choice but to go to a single file restart to get just one lap completed. Hall was moved up front and with the cars in line, the drivers were able to start racing. Even with the delay, there was no denying how good the track was, and the racing was even better. Both Bobby Butler and Peter Paulson were driving with passion and purpose. Paulson unfortunately spun around late in the race and gave up his chance at beating Hall. Bunch had been the show to watch. He battled back from dead last to fourth place. Yet, on the restart he spun around and was unable to continue with a tire issue. Butler moved back behind Hall for the final few laps. Nick Larsen was also in the mix and battled with Butler for the second spot. These two didn’t want to give an inch. Up front Hall cruised away and won his first career main event. Bunch and Larsen won the earlier eight-lap heat race. Butler was the fastest car in qualifying and turned a lap of 12.668 seconds.

Racing returns this Thursday night, July 3rd with freedom and fireworks show featuring fast cars. To buy tickets head to www.marysvilleraceway.com
