Take Two; Hawes Memorial Rescheduled for This Saturday Nov. 8

MARYSVILLE, Calif., November 2, 2025…Let’s try this again. Marysville Raceway is rescheduling the annual Paul Hawes Memorial for this Saturday night, November 8th. This race pays tribute to former Marysville Raceway promoter Paul Hawes. With generous sponsorship from his son Jeremy, this open wheel themed show will attract a lot of the local stars to the dirt action track of the West.

“When the rain canceled the original race on October 25th, I was pretty distraught,” said promoter Dennis Gage. “At that moment I felt we should just call it a year and come back in 2026.” However, after thinking more about the event, and thinking what Paul Hawes meant to this racetrack, Gage reached out to his staff on Monday morning to see about rescheduling the event on Nov 8th. “I checked all the other tracks schedules and noticed they were all off or done for the season. I then reached out to some drivers to see if they wanted to come back. Once my staff was on board, I decided it was the right thing to do, and we are going to get the Paul Hawes Memorial in this Saturday.”

As of this writing, three divisions have confirmed their involvement with this Saturday’s show. The 360 wing sprints, the wingless spec sprints, and Crate Sprints. Gage has reached out to the BCRA Lightning Sprints but had not heard a yes or no.

Jeremy Hawes also gave approval for the rescheduled race. Thanks to Paul’s son Jeremy and H&H Trenching, a large amount of sponsorship money will be distributed to many of the top finishing drivers this Saturday night. A huge $2,500 payday to the winner of the winged sprint car 360 division with bonus money being added to the top finishing drivers. Wingless sprint cars will compete for a $1,200 win with extra money given to the drivers who finish second to eighth. Even the Winged Crate Sprints will see a bump up to $500 for their win and extra money added to the top finishers.

The pit gate is slated to open at 2pm. Times are bumped up a bit for this race. The driver’s meeting is scheduled at 4pm. Car’s on track at 4:30pm for wheel packing. Hot laps start 5pm. Front gate will open at 5pm. Adult general admission is $20 (ages 16-61), Juniors and Seniors $17 (ages 12-15 / 62+), and kids are $10 (ages 6-11). Military with ID card is $17. Children 5 and under are FREE. Parking is also FREE for grandstand attendees.

Exciting, grass roots dirt track racing is on display this Saturday night.
