Marysville Raceway Still the Place to Be in 2026
MARYSVILLE, Calif., March 14, 2026…On Saturday nights, there is no other place to be if you want to enjoy grass roots, action packed, nonstop action than the Marysville Raceway. Week after week, Dennis Gage continues to provide an amazing racing surface along with a well-oiled machine featuring dedicated officials and track workers. Gage and team hosted 63 race cars among 4 different divisions for Championship Point race number two.
Auburn’s Andy Forsberg picked up his third overall win of the season, second win at Marysville, by winning the 25-lap winged 360 sprint car main event. It wasn’t easy for Andy, as he and the crew battled an ill-handling motor for most of the night. Billy Wallace was the show for the first 19 laps. Wallace looked in Championship form as he paced the field. Forsberg seemed to be stuck in fourth spot most of the race. On lap 13, second place driver Jayden Bunch bicycled in turn one and ended up tipping over. He did not continue. This closed back the field for the restart. Forsberg was able to pass Jake Haulot and then close in on Wallace. On the 19th lap, Forsberg drives past Wallace for the lead. Wallace seemed to lose his rhythm and fell to a fourth-place finish. Haulot moved into the second spot. Carson Hall was competitive all night and passed Wallace for third. Dennis Scherer locked down the fifth-place finish at the checkered.
Cole Fear drove a flawless race to pick up the popular IMCA Sport Mod feature win. Fear was never challenged. Behind him it was a fight for the second spot. Jason Clayton Jr. and Dan Brown Jr. battled all 20 laps. From lap seven to thirteen, Mike Merrit held the second spot. On lap 14, Brown Jr. took second. Then on lap 17, it was Clayton Jr. who grabbed the second spot. Merrit would fade to the fourth spot. Thomas Reynolds started off the race in second. He held that spot until lap six. As he fell back to eighth on lap nine but rebounded to work his way back into the fifth spot at the checkered. Fear was followed by Clayton Jr. and Brown Jr.
David Derr Jr. won the 20 lap Crate Sprint feature. The elongated race took over 30 minutes to complete. In the end it was worth it to see Derr Jr. get the win. His family has a long history of being involved in racing and seeing him win was special. KC Carpenter led the first two laps until he spun in turn three. This moved Kevin Lovell to the top spot. Lovell led until ten. This is when Derr Jr. passed him for the lead. Derr Jr. was able to keep his composure up front and endure the eight different yellow flags throughout the 20-lap race. Lovell finished second. Jason Ballantine displayed speed all night and finished third. Jacob Johnson and Kalob Maher worked their way into a top five finish.
The Nor Cal Dwarf Cars always put on a great show. Tonight, the Shrum family finished at the top again. The race started off with Dylan Shrum leading the show. On lap 13, Brenden Shrum took the lead. Two different drivers led tonight, but only one last night got credit. In all, four Shrum’s raced tonight. Shawn Whitney had an early race miscue that caused him to drift back. Yet he stormed through the field and finished third. Gage Meyers and Corey Eaton continue to be two of the most consistent drivers in the field. Tonight, they both finished in the top five.
