PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Stock Cars Invade Marysville

(Marysville, CA 10/13/23) Once a year Marysville Raceway dedicates a late season event to California dirt stock car racing.  Called the Taxicab challenge, it features five divisions of stock cars tackling the ¼ mile clay oval located just off Simpson Lane in Marysville.  The 80 cars expected will bring the raceway to life Saturday October 21, 2023.

The Xtreme Late Model series will headline the show.  They also have a race in March at the track and the division was once part of the regular lineup at the Speedway.  Top local runners include former Champion Matt Micheli from nearby Live Oak.  Pro stocks, which are a melting pot for area track super and street stocks are on the schedule along with the Placerville Speedway Pure stocks.  Added for the first time are IMCA stock cars.  IMCA stock cars have recently appeared on the Northern California scene but differ from the IMCA Sport Modifieds the track runs weekly.  IMCA sport modifieds will not be part of the show.

A new twist has been added to the popular Hobby Stock divisions.  Local race champions Jerry Bartlett and Brian Cooper organized the West Coast Hobby stock tour which creates a larger base of entrants for this year’s event.  This will also be the last event in the year long battle for the championship.  More than 40 cars are expected for the Hobby Stock showdown.

Marysville Raceway is located just off Simpson Lane next to the Marysville Flea Market in the Yuba River flood plain.  The ¼ mile clay oval has operated for more the 60 years at this location.  Over time it has had numerous configurations and operators.  Improvements over the last decade have made the facility rival any California oval track operation and draws a large contingent of racers and fans.

The pit gate will open at 3 P.M. on Oct. 21. The front gate and grandstand will open at 5 P.M.  Racing is planned for 6:30. Tickets will be sold at the gate or may be obtained online through the track website at www.marysvilleraceway.com.  Online tickets are discounted.  Adult tickets at the gate will be $17, Junior and seniors are $15, kids are $8.  Under 5 are free.  Local retailers also offer a free kid’s ticket when accompanied by an adult.  Available at Performance Auto Supply in Marysville and the Marysville Flea Market.
