Three Divisions Set to Race This Saturday

MARYSVILLE, Calif., May 7, 2024…The forecast is clear and warm for this Saturday nights scheduled race. Mother Nature has not played nice with us this year. Four cancellations, including last Saturday, have put a damper on championship auto racing.

With that said, three divisions are lined up and ready to compete this Saturday night, May 11th, at the action track of the West, Marysville Raceway. The 360 sprint cars, hobby stocks, and IMCA Northern SporMods are set to entertain the eager fans of the speedway who are ready to see live dirt track racing again.

This Saturday will mark only the third chance for the IMCA Northern SportMods to hit the quarter-mile oval track prepared by promoter Dennis Gage. Raymond Lindeman is the current point leader. Lindeman holds a seven-point edge over Jimmy Ford. Behind them, five different drivers are lumped together. Mark Garner holds down the third spot but is only five points ahead of the next four drivers following him. Shaun Merritt sits in the fourth spot, two points back. Three drivers are tied for fifth and include William Merritt, Mike Merritt, and KC Carpenter.

For the fourth time this season, the Hobby Stocks hit the track for a chance to earn valuable points. Jason Clayton Sr. has been the most consistent and leads the charge this Saturday night. Following him is two-time main event winner Kyle Cheney who is tied with Howard Law, and Kevin Thomas for second place. These three drivers are six points shy of Clayton Sr. Fifth spot is held by Ken Reische.

After three rounds of 360 sprint car racing a new face has emerged as the track point leader. Teenager Carson Hammes of Marysville sits atop the sprint car points. Carson has amassed 139 total points with consistent finishes. Eight points back is Grass Valley’s Billy Wallace. Dawson Hammes, the most recent main event winner, is just one-point back of Wallace, and nine-points back of younger brother Carson. Drake Standley holds down the fourth spot. Dryver Dothage rounds out the top five.

Pit gate is scheduled to open at 3 PM. Front gate set to open at 5 PM. Winged 360 sprint car qualifying begins at 6:30 PM with racing to follow.
