Toller Memorial Winners
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Forsberg, Ingle, and Young all Winners at the Toller Memorial
MARYSVILLE, Calif., February 22, 2025…Andy Forsberg dominated the 25-lap sprint car race Saturday night at Marysville Raceway in honor of Sherm and Loree Toller. Not only did he win, but the family asked if he drove the No. 92 car for the Memorial Laps, and he was also involved in giving flowers to the Toller daughters in attendance, Sheree and Kaylee. “Being involved with the Toller’s since our Grass Valley days has always given me a since of pride to be involved with this event in their honor,” said Forsberg.
Forsberg started from the pole position and went on to lead all 25-laps. Racing behind him were a solid trio led by Nick Larsen, Kaleb Montgomery and Austin Wood. Those three battled up until the checkered flag. On lap 22, Wodd passed Henry for fourth. Montgomery challenged Larsen for the second spot but was never able to get by. Larsen should be commended for a strong second place finish. All the top five drivers did a great job of trying to entertain the fans.
Forsberg won the first eight-lap heat. Larsen grabbed the top spot in heat two. Henry started the night with quick time at 13.049. With the fast lap came a $100 bonus from Mel’s Transmission.
What a great show the Crate Sprints put on. Billy Wallace led the first 11 laps of the 20-lap feature. Challenging him was Caleb Ingle, who you could tell was quicker than Wallace. Ingle just needed the right time and the right place to make his move. That decision came quickly when racing into turn three on the 11th lap, he passed Wallace and led the race coming off turn four. Ingle would lead the final eight laps to pick up the popular win. Battling for third and fourth was Misty Castleberry and Matthew Kaiser. Two of the best that have raced, Crate Sprints at Marysville, put on an entertaining race. Castleberry was able to lock down the third-place finish with Kaiser right behind her. Defending point champion Koa Crane came to stop on lap 17. He was running fifth. Once he was out, Jacob Johnson assumed that spot and held on to finish a solid fifth place. Castleberry and Wallace each picked up heat race wins. I feel this will be a big season for the Crate division at Marysville.
Nathan Schank was up front and leading the wingless sprint car race when disaster occurred going into turn one on lap 11. Schank was trying to pass a slower car at the top of the entrance of turn one. Schank’s left front contacted the slower car’s right rear. Unfortunately for Schank, that sent his car straight into the wall and wrecked. Second place driver Brent Steck was now the new leader. However, his lead was short lived. On the restart, Josh Young passed Steck and was the new official leader on lap 15. Young went on to win the race by nearly two seconds. Steck held onto the second and finished nearly two-seconds ahead of third place finisher Shannon Newton. Heath Holdsclaw and David Johnson were solid all night and rounded out the top five.
It was nice to see a good turnout of wingless sprints, 15 in total. The entire division did a nice job of racing throughout the night. Heat race winners included Young, who swept the night, and Newton the winner of heat two. We are looking forward to their return on June 14th that is part of the Hunt Wingless Tour.
