87 Dwarf Cars Compete During Night One of Nationals

MARYSVILLE, Calif., September 19, 2025…The 30th Dwarf Car Nationals featuring the Western States Dwarf Car Association enjoyed a solid opening night of racing at the Marysville Raceway on Friday night. The fans were treated to some of the best racing the dwarf car drivers could provide. The Pro division led the way with 33 drivers in attendance. The Sportsman Class had a staggering 29 drivers signed in. The Veteran group had 25 drivers.

Recently crowned Nor Cal Dwarf Car champion Dylan Shrum won an exciting 20-lap Pro main event. Shrum raced around Mike Grenert around the halfway point of the feature. Following him was Brenden Shrum. In fact, when you add that Cody Shrum finished six, it was very impressive to see three of the top six finishers were Shrum’s. Early leader Grenert, slipped back to third at the line. John Isabella was in the top five all night and finished fourth. “The Joe Show”, Joey Lingron, busted the top side all night and finished fifth. Rounding out the top 10, and transferring into Saturday night’s fast dash included, Cody Shrum, Gage Meyers, Ellie Wagner, Ridge Abbott, and Vuki Wilson Jr.

Mike Reeder showed what experience and having a fast car will get you. Reeder won the 20-lap Veteran main event over Tom Morley and a hard charging Kevin Bender, who improved five spots from his starting spot. The Veteran division always puts on a great race. Ronnie Williams secured the fourth spot. Dan Geil rounded out the top five. Securing spots into Saturday’s fast dash includes Kevin Miraglio, Pete Piantanida, Carroll Mendenhall, Eric Weisler, and Stacy Woods. Shout out to Woods, who improved advanced 11 spots during the main event.

Tommie Piantanida dominated the race shortened Sportsman feature. The race was scheduled for 20 laps, but after 45 minutes had come and gone, the officials decided enough was enough and the race was checkered on lap 12. Justin Smart was good all night and finished second. Anthony Estrada was super impressive. He started 20th and finished third. David Hays was also fast. He started 12th and finished fourth. NaRyan Shores rounded out the top five. The five final transfers into the Saturday fast dash included Sunny Sundberg Jr., Chris Wilder, CJ Marin, Ben Mangini, and Kasey Horat.
