Encore at Marysville Raceway with the Mel Hall Memorial

Marysville, CA (Oct 31, 2019) – Two popular dirt track racing series championships will be decided on November 9th at Marysville Raceway. The California Sprint Car Civil War Series and the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Tour both converge for one night only during the 20th edition of the Mel Hall Memorial. This Saturday night finale will feature the best of both worlds, as the top winged and non-wing sprint car drivers in Northern California are set to put on a show you don’t want to miss.
Pit gate opens at 3 PM. Front grandstand gate opens at 5 PM. Racing on track set for 6:30 PM. Adult general admission is $17.00. Seniors (62 +) and Juniors (12-15) ticket is $14.00. Military with proper ID is also just $14.00. Kids (6-11) are just $6.00. Children five and under are FREE. As always, parking at the venue is FREE.
The Mel Hall Memorial was originally scheduled to run on May 26th but was postponed because of rain. The race was then moved to November 9th and the Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprints were added to the show. “We couldn’t be more excited to host two of the premier racing divisions to close out our successful 2019 racing season,” said promoter Dennis Gage. “I want to thank John Prentice and Roger Gleason for allowing this show to materialize and getting to do an encore for our dedicated race teams and fans.”
The Civil War Series will see a jump in pay because of the generous donation from the Hall family. Each Civil War main event winner usually receives $2,500, but on November 9th, the 30-lap winner will receive $3,000. Other financial incentives will be released as the race gets closer.
Point leader Koen Shaw of Fresno is one of the many expected to try and tame the Action Track of the West. Shaw holds a 25-point edge over Gilroy’s Kurt Nelson. Auburn’s Andy Forsberg is a ten-time champion of the series and looks to get back into victory lane after winning the 25-lap Sprint Spooktacular on October 26th. Forsberg is also a Civil War main event winner this season. Shane Golobic, Justin Sanders and Billy Aton have also visited Civil War victory lane in 2019. Chico’s Michael Ing, Reno’s Mike Monahan and Yuba City’s Korey Lovell are all expected to sling the world-famous clay around the quarter-mile oval.
Jake Morgan has been the driver to beat in 2019 when it comes to Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car racing. Morgan has collected three wins in route to a 115-point edge over Scott Chapeta as the series roars into Stockton this weekend. Brian Sperry Racing sits in third, Cody Spencer 4th, and Shawn Jones in fifth after a tumultuous weekend back in August that saw him give up a ton of points after holding the lead earlier in the season.
