Gage Wins Region and National Nomination

PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GAGE WINS REGION AND NATIONAL NOMINATION
(Chico, CA 1/21/20) Dennis Gage, operator/promoter of Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico and Marysville Raceway in Marysville has won the Region Six, Southwest and Western region promoter of the year award. His nomination qualifies him for the National Promoter or the Year award which will be voted on later in January. The winner will be announced at the 47th annual Racing Promotion Monthly (RPM) workshop at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort on February 10.
Gage, who has managed Chico for 10 years and Marysville for 5 has been involved in Motorsports for over 50 years starting in 1962. He has crewed, raced, been a track official and ended up taking on track publicity and announcing in 1973. He was also the track manager in Roseville for 4 years.
“What an honor this is to be recognized for the contributions you have made to a major league sport” explained Gage. “It would be possible without my families support and a great bunch of people who surround me”, he continued.
Gage is one of six nominees for Auto Racing Promoter of the year. Only three of the regions were early announcements including the Western Region. The Eastern division, Central, and Northern area were all tied where further voting is needed before the final ballots can be cast.
The Auto Racing Promoter of the Year is short track racing’s most prestigious award. It is awarded each year after voting by promoters. The award was created in 1976 by the editor of Racing Promotion Monthly. Voting is conducted in two phases: a preliminary ballot nominates candidates in six regions. The six become the Regional Promoters of the Year and then appear on the second ballet for final voting. It is the only national award recognizing promotional excellence selected by peers.
Former Silver Dollar Speedway promoter John Padjen received the National award in 2006. Famous west coast promoter J.C. Agajanian won the award in 1977 and Son Cary Agajanian followed in 1986 for their operation of Ascot Speedway in Gardena, CA. This would be the first time for a repeat winner for a Northern, CA track. Nadine Strauss from Lakeport Speedway and Ray Wilkings from Saugus Speedway are the only other winners from California.
The winner will be announced in Daytona at 1:30 in the afternoon Monday, February 10.
Gage will be present for the ceremony and can be reached at 530-350-7275 or at info@silverdollarspeedway.com. (END)
