Law, Sanders and Sherman Jr. Crowned Kings of Marysville

Marysville, CA (September 19, 2015)…Watsonville’s Justin Sanders capped off an incredible season at Marysville Raceway by winning the 25-lap winged 360 sprint car main event and capturing the season long track championship. Sanders passed Cody Hodgson on the next to last lap to get the exciting win. Sanders has now won an amazing 11 main events at Marysville Raceway in 2015, the most all-time feature wins for one season. Hodgson was close in picking up his first career sprint car win but did hold on to finish in the second spot. Billy Wallace finished third. William Fielding ran in the fourth spot. Fifth went to Colby Wiesz.

Fresh off a 2014 mini stock championship at Silver Dollar Speedway, Howard Law moved into the IMCA Sport Mods for 2015 and earned another well-deserved championship. Law won the 20-lap feature event and wrapped up the driving championship in the process. Brian Cooper drove back to a second place finish after being penalized for jumping the start during a previous restart. Jim Waller finished in the third spot.

Tim Sherman Jr. finished in the fourth spot during the 20-lap wingless sprint car main event; however, it was good enough to secure his second consecutive track championship at Marysville. Misty Castleberry led the early laps until a late race restart saw Aaron Gustin dive underneath her and take the lead. There was contact between the two drivers but both were able to continue on. Gustin seemed to be on his way to the win until Peter Paulson emerged as the driver with the better car during the final laps. Paulson moved around Gustin and went on to win the race. Gustin was second. Castleberry hung on for third. Josh Vieira finished in the fifth spot.

Eddie Hammett won an emotional 20 lap street stock main event. Once out of the car and in victory lane Hammett was overcome with emotion. Brent Lawrence was involved in an early race altercation but drove back up to a second place finish. Steve Hammett finished in the third spot.

Cameron Haney didn’t lead all the laps during the winged economy sprint car main event but he did lead the most important. Late in the race Haney moved around Jeff Macedo for the win. Macedo finished second and Chad Thompson was third.
