West Coast Sport Mod Championship on Line

Marysville, CA (July 26, 2017) – Marysville Raceway is pleased to host the West Coast Sport Mod Tour Championship this Saturday night, July 29th. This inaugural tour has produced 58 different drivers at the first four events. Silver Dollar Speedway will host this tour on Friday night making this a huge double header for this popular traveling series. Four other divisions will join the Sport Mods led by the winged 360 sprints, Dwarf Cars, wingless sprints and Super Stocks.

The pit gate will open at 3 PM while the front grandstand gate opens at 5 PM. Adult general admission is $13.00 into the grandstands. Seniors, juniors and Military with ID are just $10.00 each. Kids, six to eleven years old, are $6.00. Children five and under are FREE. A family pass is available and consists of 2 adult tickets, 2 junior tickets or 3 kid’s tickets for a combined price of $40.00.

The West Coast Sport Mod Tour will crown their champion on Saturday night at Marysville. Only eight-points separate the top five in points coming into Chico. Nick Spainhoward leads the charge with 117 overall points. Michael Johnson is second with 115 points. Third spot is youngster Shane Devolder with 112 points. Both Lee Jensen and Fred Ryland are tied in fourth with 109 points. This series is a can’t miss show on Friday and Saturday night. Local favorites include Phillip Shelby, Jerry Bartlett and the Cooper’s, Brian and Todd.

The winged 360 sprint cars are led by Marysville’s Jeremy Hawes who is in search of his first sprint car championship. The most winningest driver in Marysville sprint car history, Colby Wiesz, returns this Saturday night. He will also race in the Dwarf Car division with his two sons, Ben and Josh. Two-time main event winner Bobby Butler is also slated to return.

Shawn Jones of San Jose won the wingless sprint car race last Saturday night. Jones is returning to beat the locals again.

Mike Walko won an entertaining Super Stock main event last week. Walko only had three inflated tires are he crossed the finish line.

The traveling Dwarf Cars will feature a large car count and close racing. The top names in Dwarf Car racing throughout Northern California will be on hand.
